1st XV vs Hartpury 3rd XV

Cardiff meds arrived at Hartpury to play their 3rds on a cool winters afternoon. The game was played on the 3G pitch, and the squad was keen to go out and get a result after last week’s disappointing result to Gloucester. After a good spell of possession Medics went 3-0 down playing into the wind. The lead was extended by Gloucester shortly after with an converted try. Sustained possession and territory for the medics lead to an unconverted try from B Jones after Daf took the ball to the line and offloaded on the gain line. A similar move lead to C Watson crossing under the posts, a long distance penalty from Hartpury sailed over with the half time score 12-13 to the home team. The second half kicked off with Medics playing good territory and making the most of the wind at their backs

Sustained pressure resulted in owain charging down a clearance kick from the Hartpury 10 and touching down to put the medics ahead again. Hartpury went on the offence and J Brock was yellow carded for repeat offences

After holding off the Hartpury scrum the extra man told and they crossed in the corner to take the lead 18-17. With 5 minutes to play the medics went back on the attack keen to not loose out again at the death. With seconds left a penalty was awarded 35 metres out and B Jones calmly stepped up and bisected the posts, giving the meds their second BUCS win of the season.
