Dublin Hospitals 10 – 37 Cardiff Medicals

Cardiff Meds travelled across the Irish Sea and set the rugby world alight with a fantastic display of free-flowing rugby.  An icy pitch at Old Belvedere RFC hosted this fixture, which two years beforehand, saw the Meds run out close victors. In the pre-match build up, it was rumoured that Cardiff Meds fly-half Chris Edwards had been spotted undertaking kicking practise with Wales’ Rhys Priestland prior to the weekends matches, however the session clearly had little if any benefit for either party. There were seven tries in total, with a couple of well-worked back’s moves seeing the youthful Lewis Isaac and the enigmatic Duncan Seebeeg galloping in under Irish Posts.

Despite the Cardiff Meds’ dominance, Dublin Hospitals fought strongly throughout the match, seeing the Meds camped in their own 22 for large periods of the second half. In summary a well natured but physical game was contested.  We must extend our gratitude to Dublin Hospitals RFC who provided absolutely outstanding post-match hospitality and made it an evening to remember for all involved.  Hopefully we will get the opportunity to return the favour in future years.
